Entertaining Kids in the Holidays

Entertaining Kids In the Holidays

Before you know it, the school holidays will be here. We all love having our children at home but entertaining then can be very tricky, particularly if you have children of varying ages. Let’s take a look at some ideas of how you could entertain children of all ages over the holidays.

Theme Parks

Theme parks have traditionally been a nice way of entertaining your children in the school holidays. Contrary to popular belief, there are many theme parks which cater to children of all ages. You have adrenaline filled rides for the older children and soft play/farm animals for younger children. The only real drawback to theme parks is that they can be very expensive and busy during the school holidays.

Craft Day

It doesn’t matter how old you are, there is something about crating your own craft piece. For crafting to be interesting, try to get your children to design something that is personal to them. For example, creating their own logo. Look at jasa desain logo for inspiration, so that your child has an idea to go from. Get creative with the materials you supply and purchase products such as washi tape, a Singapore rubber stamp, modelling clay and plenty of coloured card/paper. Alternately you could look at creating crafts that are relevant to the season. So, if it is Easter for example, create Easter related crafts. The beauty of crafts is that they can be tailored to suit all ages. Head online for templates for younger children and let older children unleash their creativity.

Adventure Walks

The beauty of this idea is that the weather has no impact. If it’s raining then you can go on a wet walk wearing wellies and raincoats and see if you can spot any rainbows. For both older and younger children, puddles will cause great entertainment. If the weather is better then you could head out on a scavenger hunt and find items that are relevant to the season.

Movie Day

All kids love films and it’s not always practical to go to the cinema. For this reason, create a cinema at home. Give each child a responsibility, for example the older children can get the snacks together and the younger children can create a comfy home cinema. Animations are a great option to suit all ages and there’s plenty to choose from.

Baking Fun

Children of all ages love treats! Instead of heading out to the shops to buy treats you could create your own at home. Ask older children to look for recipes online and see if they can get simplified recipes for younger children. Put the older children in charge of the younger children and get them to work together to create their own treats to enjoy.

Gardening

Although we think gardening is for the warmer months, it’s an activity that can be enjoyed all year round. There are many activities that can come from your garden such as planting, listening for nature sounds, looking for new flowers/plants, creating rubbings etc. The opportunitiesreally are endless.
